Trackmania Turbo was the last time we saw Ubisoft's zany arcade racer on PlayStation, but after a stint exclusive to PC, the next instalment is ready to burst onto PS5 and PS4. The simply titled Trackmania has been announced for console and cloud platforms, arriving in early 2023.
This version of the game is free-to-play, with cross-play and cross-progression ensuring a seamless experience for all. It'll be a largely familiar game to those who've played a Trackmania title before — fast, twitchy racing with crazy tracks and highly competitive multiplayer. Additionally, players will be able to create their own courses, essentially affording the game a limitless amount of stuff to do.
Check out the trailer above, and let us know what you think of Trackmania in the comments section below.

Why the regression to free to play? Oh, right, money. Nickel and diming people over the longer term is a proven method of extracting more money than people are willing to pay as a one off charge…
Trackmania had F2P option even before Ubisoft aquired them.
I loved the simplicity of Trackmania Turbo so will definitely be giving this ago.
Racing games are probably my favourite genre but some games go a little bit too far with customisation and choices of vehicles.
TT was brilliant to simply pick up and play.
Maybe I'm getting old but I do sometimes miss the games where all you had to do was pick whether you wanted to be the red car or the blue one and then away you go

Games that are a level playing field which are also FTP are no problem.
Games which lock weapons with stat boosts behind microtransactions are the problem.
Games like trackmania and rocket league which are FTP are better off that way as it keeps player numbers high.
If people can't resist the shiny shiny skins without spending all their money that's on them.

In a way yes, but given the brains of children aren’t developed enough to have sufficient impulse control, also no. Also children don’t understand the value of money because they’ve never had to work or buy anything for the most part.
Even for adults, I feel it’s manipulative, and taking advantage of people with mental health issues. At least if no cap is in place. Companies that are happy to take thousands, or even tens or hundreds of thousands, of pounds from people in multi transactions are scum.
@thefourfoldroot1 well thank god kids arent allowed to have credit cards then.
The responsibility and teaching the value of money is something that the parents should be doing, not a mutimilion dollar company.
Also, my dude every company is happy to take your money, if you think that buying a skin on a game that's free to play is somehow worse than paying 70$ to even play a game i dont think you have the right mindset.
Like @solocapers said, as long as its not something that changes the balance of the game in your favor, theres nothing wrong with it. But comparing purely cosmetic stuff to something like Diablo immortal is kinda like comparing a ***** mcdonalds job to child slavery.

Then we simply disagree, because knowing an up front cost is, to my mind, far better than being enticed years on end by publishers who know the only way to be profitable is to rely on a few whales with obsessive personalities or enough kids with daddy’s credit cards who don’t know the value of money.
I’m afraid the current gen have been manipulated by massive corps into thinking micro transactions are good or even necessary. You’ll know where I stand when, in some years, you are online trying to show the brainwashed that NFT’s are not a good thing.
@thefourfoldroot1 and you’re surprised by a company like Ubisoft doing this? Ubisoft/Activision/EA need to be permanently boycotted by gamers.
heck yeah! more games i can play with my poor struggling friends XD...life is hard sometimes. more FTP games coming out are a win in my book.
